Prince Harry’s Shocking First Public Engagement Since Moving Back to U.K. Revealed
Prince Harry has lined up one of his first public engagements since moving his family from California to his native England last month.
This month, the Duke of Sussex is set to jump out of a plane to benefit the Sunnybrook Foundation, a Canadian charity. The skydive will raise money for military families. It also will honor a vow he made to World War II veteran Ed Marshall, whom he met last year.
According to Sunnybrook’s website, Harry and Marshall “quickly bonded over their shared experience of military service and the way they have continued to serve their communities.”
Ed, 102, was a paratrooper during the Second World War and Harry previously served in the British Army for a decade.
“Ed amazed Prince Harry when he proudly recounted the fundraising skydive he completed to mark his 100th birthday. The idea stuck, and together, they devised a plan for another jump,” Sunnybrook’s website explains.
The foundation confirmed Harry will “take to the skies” with fellow veterans in honor of Ed, who will not do the dive this year. However, his grandson, Bailey, will step in in his absence.
The jump will support Sunnybrook and True Patriot Love Foundation which both serve Canada’s Veteran communities.
It was through the True Patriot Love Foundation that Harry was able to bring the Invictus Games to Toronto in 2017.
Prince Harry founded the Invictus Games in 2014 and is still involved in the foundation as a patron. The organization uses sports to support the rehabilitation of wounded, sick or injured veterans around the world.
The news comes amid recent reports that Harry and Meghan will not be met with forgiveness from his older brother, Prince William, and sister-in-law, Princess Kate.
Harry and Meghan briefly lived in Canada after they stepped back as working members of the British royal family in 2020. They ultimately settled down in Montecito, California, before their recent move back to the U.K. with their two children, son Archie, 7, and daughter Lilibet, 5.
