“The fact that the king is working so hard to put this rift in the past, and that he’s laying the groundwork for the future, not just for Harry and Meghan but for their children and future generations, is hugely satisfying,” the source admits.
During a recent appearance on The Megyn Kelly Show, journalist Dan Wootton revealed that Charles, 77, has not only offered Buckingham Palace to the couple any time they want, he’s also invited them to spend time with him this summer at the royal family’s private Balmoral estate.
“It’s becoming increasingly clear that they don’t need William and Kate’s approval to find their way back into the royal fold, which of course has really boosted Meghan’s confidence,” says the source. “She and Harry believe William, and presumably Kate, went out of their way to make life as difficult and painful as possible for them and tried to block them at every turn.”

In the end, however, William and Kate, both 44, ultimately “failed,” the source notes.
“Meghan and Harry are both feeling pretty vindicated,” reveals the source. “That being said, they would still very much like to have a better relationship with William and Kate, and they intend to work towards that.”
However, “if that never happens, they believe they and their children will always have a place within the family,” says the source. “And after years of feeling like Kate and her supporters were trying to push Meghan aside, they see this as proof that they endured and that no one was able to force them out.”
