Princess Kate is reportedly pushing Prince William to make peace with Prince Harry, but her motivation may have more to do with protecting the monarchy than repairing the brothers’ shattered relationship.

The Daily Enquirer‘s Editor-at-Large Rob Shuter reported in his Naughty But Nice Substack on Thursday, August 20, that the Princess of Wales, 44, is encouraging her husband to call a truce with Harry, 41, as he and Meghan Markle, 45, prepare to move back to the U.K. with their two children – Prince Archie, 7, and Princess Lilibet, 5.

“This isn’t about forgiveness. It’s about strategy,” a source told Naughty But Nice. “Kate is thinking about the institution and the future, when William is King and she is Queen.”

The source added that Kate is the “voice of reason,” and while she’s aware that William and Harry “may never be brothers in the way they once were,” they can still be “civil.”

“They can cooperate, and they can stop feeding the story that the royal family is permanently divided,” the source continued.

Kate’s push for peace comes as the Sussexes are said to be planning a “rival royal court,” which could exist alongside William and Kate’s future reign.

According to Shuter’s report, Kate recognizes that every new public battle between the two sides brings more attention to the royal family. Instead of attempting to restore the brothers’ once-close bond, she’s focused on putting an end to the fighting.

“Kate is a chess player,” the source explained. “She doesn’t need Harry to love William. She needs him to stop fighting him.”

As Examiner previously reported, Harry and Meghan’s planned return to the U.K. comes more than six years after they stepped back as senior working royals and moved to the United States.
