New Claims Suggest King Charles ‘Encouraged’ Prince Harry to Return to U.K

Could a royal family reunion finally be taking shape behind palace walls?

A friend of King Charles III insisted the monarch has “informally encouraged” his younger son to come back to the U.K.

The friend told The Daily Beast that Charles, 77, believes the monarchy and the wider royal family are “stronger united” and wants the long-running stand-off with Prince Harry to finally end.

The source added, “The king’s faith has played a part, but ultimately this is a strategic decision for the good of the family. The stand-off needed to be resolved.”

However, any return would apparently come with an important condition: Harry’s ongoing legal battles with the Daily Mail publisher would first need to be completely resolved.

The source also suggested it was highly unlikely the Duke of Sussex, 41, would appeal his major civil defeat. The case could leave Harry and his seven fellow plaintiffs facing a potential $50 million legal bill.

The bigger question is what Harry’s return to the family fold could mean for his older brother, Prince William.

The source close to the king insisted Charles has made it clear that William and the future of the monarchy are his “top priority.”

The source declined to discuss any differences between Charles and William, 44, over the specifics of Harry’s situation.

Instead, the friend praised William and Princess Kate, calling them a “credit to the monarchy” and saying Charles is “immensely proud” of them.

The Duke of Sussex and his wife, Meghan Markle, have now moved back to the U.K. with their two young children, Prince Archie, 7, and Princess Lilibet, 5.

For now, there is no guarantee of a royal reconciliation, but the latest claim suggests Charles may be willing to leave the door open as long as the future of the monarchy remains protected.
