‘Happy Days’ Star, 71, Looks Unrecognizable In Rare Outing

Linda Purl, known for her work on Happy Days, was spotted in a rare sighting out in Los Angeles during the week of her 71st birthday.

The actress kept it low key in a long-sleeved tee, red hat and black sweats while leaving Gleson’s supermarket in L.A., in photos obtained by the Daily Mail and published on Thursday, September 3. She appeared to be carrying a pastry box for a cake, perhaps for her own birthday, as she celebrated her special day on September 2.

Purl had her first big break in the ’80s, playing The Fonz’s girlfriend Ashley Pfister on the sitcom’s 10th season. She later starred as Ben Matlock’s daughter on the first season of original Matlock TV series, before appearing in films including Visiting Hours, Body Language, and Mighty Joe Young.

These days, she’s most known for playing Pam’s mom on The Office, though she also recently appeared on both Hacks, General Hospital, and The Bold and the Beautiful. Purl is also a singer and, this year, released a new album, From My Heart. She also regularly performs at jazz clubs.

Off-camera, Purl has also made headlines for some of her relationships — most notably her short marriage to Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz‘s son, Desi Arnaz Jr., in 1979. The two split just a year later.

She later married China Beach creator and Apollo 13 writer William Broyles Jr. in 1988. They later split and she tied the knot with Homeland producer Alexander Cary, with whom she shares a son. When that relationship didn’t work out either, she married once more in 2006 to James Vinson Adams, before that marriage ultimately ended in divorce as well in 2011.

Since 2020, she has been in a relationship with her The Bold and the Beautiful costar, Patrick Duffy. Like many others in the pandemic, the pair started making sourdough for their friends, before they began selling starter kits. Now, Kroger sells their bread brand, Duffy’s Dough, in stores nationwide.

Though they’ve been together for six years now, a source previously told National Examiner that the Dallas alum is “nervous about getting hitched.”

The source added: “He worries it’ll jinx what they have, so he keeps finding excuses to put it off.”
