Ex-Prince Andrew Surrendered His Gun License to Authorities After They Showed Up at the Royal Lodge
Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor is no longer able to fire a gun on his own.
In an article published by the BBC on Tuesday, December 23, the outlet reported that the former Prince, 65, “voluntarily surrendered his gun licence after a visit from the Metropolitan Police” last month when officers visited the Royal Lodge at Windsor.
A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police shared a statement which explained, “On Wednesday, 19 November, Metropolitan Police firearms licensing officers attended an address in Windsor to request that a man in his 60s voluntarily surrender his firearms and shotgun certificate.”
The BBC noted that Andrew can still have access to his firearms, but now can only use or transport them if he is with someone who has a gun license.
The decision comes about two months after Buckingham Palace issued an official statement on Thursday, October 30, that Andrew was stripped of all his royal titles as his longtime connection to late pedophile Jeffrey Epstein continues to be called into question by the public.
Andrew has also agreed to vacate the Royal Lodge — where he resides with his ex-wife, Sarah “Fergie” Ferguson — and move into his family’s private country estate, Sandringham, in Norfolk, England, sometime in the new year.
As the Examiner reported last week, Andrew was spotted horseback riding in gloomy weather, per photos obtained by The Daily Mail, as his daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, attended a Christmas lunch at Buckingham Palace hosted by King Charles III.
Additionally, Andrew will reportedly not attend the royal family’s holiday celebrations at Sandringham.
