On Monday, May 4, the Queen of Country, 80, posted a video on Instagram revealing that, while she is on the mend, she will be unable to perform in her residency at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, which was supposed to take place in December 2025 and then was rescheduled for September 2026.
“I am here to give you an update on a few things going on in my life. First, it’s concerning my health,” she began. “I have some good news and a little bad news, but the good news is I’m responding really well to meds and treatments, and I’m improving every day.”
“Now, the bad news is, it’s gonna take me a little while before I’m up to stage performance level because some of the meds and treatments make me a little bit ‘swimmy-headed,’ as my grandma used to say,” Parton continued. “And of course, I can’t be dizzy carrying banjos, guitars, and such on 5-inch heels.”

The “Jolene” hitmaker explained, “I’ve always had problems with my kidney stones,” and is dealing with the aftermath of that.
“My immune system and my digestive system got all out of whack over the past couple of three years, and they’re working real hard on rebuilding and strengthening those, and hopefully I’ll be up to snuff again soon,” she stated.
The 11-time Grammy Award winner said she is “still working” on different projects, including her upcoming Broadway show, but apologized to fans about the Vegas shows, noting, “I am truly sorry that I’m going to miss all of you that had tickets to see me in Las Vegas.”
“I have great doctors, and I’m doing really well, and they assure me that everything I have is treatable, so I’m going with that,” she added.
The 9 to 5 star — who lost her husband Carl Dean in March 2025 — captioned her post, “Thank you for standing by me and showing me so much love and support over the past year. I’ve still got some healing to do, but I am on my way! See you soon. 💖 🦋.”
As Examiner reported on Friday, May 1, “there’s a real worry that the whole thing could get canceled if Dolly has more health issues,” a source said of the Vegas residency — which turned out to be the case.
