Prince William Admits to Not Being in a ‘Calm State’ at Event Following Ex-Prince Andrew’s Arrest

The usually tight-lipped Prince William made a stunning admission at the 2026 British Academy Film Awards (BAFTAs) in London on Feb. 22: He’s not in a “calm state” right now.

The future king’s confession came on the red carpet with Princess Kate, 44, according to the Daily Mail. He reportedly explained he has not yet watched the emotionally fraught Hamnet — which later took home the award for Outstanding British Film — because he “needed to be in a calm mood” to view it.

“I need to be in quite a calm state, and I am not at the moment. I will save it,” William, 43, said, just three days after the arrest of his uncle, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor. Authorities have launched an investigation into the disgraced former prince on suspicion of misconduct in public office following the release of new Epstein files. (Andrew has consistently denied all accusations of wrongdoing,)

William’s admission also comes on the heels of Kate’s battle with an undisclosed former of cancer, as well as his father King Charles’ own battle with cancer. “William has a lot on his plate, and he’s only human,” says a palace insider. “How could he be in a calm state when he’s faced with all of these problems, some of which are life-or-death.”

Weighing on William’s shoulder is also the realization that he may be king very soon, adds the insider. “Charles’ health is a big question mark right now. Some believe he doesn’t have a lot of time left. That can’t be lost on William.”
