Prince Harry Is ‘Pushing His Luck’ and ‘Testing’ King Charles’ ‘Patience’ With UK Trip ‘Demands’

King Charles and Prince Harry‘s upcoming peace talks have been thrown into turmoil, a source tells Examiner.

The Duke of Sussex, 41, was given the option of staying at Buckingham Palace while in London, but according to The Telegraph, the offer was rescinded at the last-minute after the cancer-stricken monarch, 77, lost patience with his son’s indecision.

“Everything that has happened the last couple of weeks is being seen by most people around Charles as more proof that Harry thinks the world revolves around him,” says the source. “The King has been incredibly understanding, but Harry is pushing his luck and taking his father’s patience for granted.”

Prior to his arrival, Harry’s return to the U.K. was already steeped in drama. He had planned to make the trip with Meghan Markle and their two young children, Prince Archie, 7, and Princess Lilibet, 5, but they did not end up joining him in England due to security concerns, per People.

“It’s not even about the security issue,” the source says of the royal family’s complaints. “It’s all the extra demands, the constant briefings and this feeling that Harry expects everyone to dance to his tune.”

Although Meghan, 44, did not end up accompanying Harry to London, “there’s a growing sense that [her] way of handling things has rubbed off on him,” the source reveals. “He’s become convinced everything has to happen on his terms.”

As Examiner previously reported, an insider claims Harry came back with all these demands on behalf of Meghan as soon as he was informed that they would be welcomed back to the U.K.

“Charles is an extremely busy man and Harry seems to think he can squeeze his father into his diary whenever it suits him and still expect the red carpet to be rolled out,” says the source. “The feeling inside royal circles is that if he genuinely wants peace, he needs to stop making demands and start showing a bit more humility, otherwise nothing is going to change.”
