Prince Harry is getting the run-around from King Charles III in the weeks leading up to his return to the U.K., reveals a source.
As Examiner previously reported, people close to the palace have speculated that the Duke of Sussex, 41, will be reunited with the cancer-stricken monarch, 77, during a trip across the pond this summer for the 2027 Invictus Games one-year countdown.
“After all these months of discussing this visit as though it was guaranteed to be happening, the conversation has now drastically shifted,” says the source, adding that His Majesty’s aides are “refusing to nail down a date or send his schedule” along.
“They keep making excuses and Charles is backing them up, so there isn’t much for Harry to say,” the source admits. “It’s a total nightmare … He’s devoted so much time and energy to building a bridge with his father and now it’s all looking like it might have been for naught.”

Although Harry is “still clinging to hope that things will get back on track,” says the source, he’s also “admitted that there have been a lot of red flags,” including the royal family’s silence on his and Meghan Markle‘s eighth wedding anniversary last month.
“Even more telling, the fact that Charles was in America and wasn’t able to fit in a visit,” the source notes. “He did nothing but make excuses and Harry bought them all, which he’s now questioning.”
Meghan, 44, is “holding her tongue,” adds the source. “But in her eyes, it will be a blessing if this trip is off.”
