Meghan Markle Is ‘Terrified’ That She and Prince Harry Are ‘Walking Into a Trap’ on UK Visit

Prince Harry is working overtime to calm Meghan Markle‘s nerves ahead of their upcoming return to the U.K., an insider tells Examiner.

The Duchess of Sussex, 44, “doesn’t trust the palace one bit,” reveals the insider. “In her mind, they’ve spent years spreading poisonous rumors about her, so she’s finding it very hard to believe anyone’s suddenly had a change of heart.”

As Examiner previously reported, a source says Harry, 41, was getting the run-around from King Charles III ahead of their visit. But now, the 77-year-old monarch is offering the couple and their children, Prince Archie, 7, and Princess Lilibet, 5, royal accommodations, per People,

“Meghan’s trying to be strong because she knows how much this trip means to Harry,” adds the insider. “But she’s admitted that she’s terrified they’re walking into a trap.”

It’s not just members of the royal family Meghan has got to worry about, the insider notes.

“She’s just as suspicious of the courtiers,” spills the insider. “She says she knows plenty of them are on the warpath against her and Harry, just waiting for William to become king, so they’ll finally lose their status.”

Harry, however, “keeps telling her she’s expecting the worst and insists his father genuinely wants to see them, but that’s not doing a whole lot to ease her fears,” the insider admits.

“In her view, this is a whole lot bigger than Charles and she says she can’t shake the feeling she’s walking straight into the lion’s den,” says the insider. “No doubt if they end up cancelling, she will be immensely relieved, but she’s leaving the final decision up to Harry.”
