Brunette beauty Elizabeth Hurley’s teen years in Basingstoke, England, were no indication that she’d become a cinema darling.
“Hanging around with the local punks, I felt pretty cool with my pink hair and nose ring,” she told The Guardian in 2024. But when her drama school tutor called her “very castable,” she cleaned up her act!
Here are some of Liz’s favorite projects and what the 60-year-old actress says they mean to her.
BBC
Christabel– (1988)
For the BBC mini-series, “I was really the long shot, and I got it. I was waiting to meet the director, and the girl before me was somebody I detested. I was so riled up by seeing this girl, I thought, ‘Over my dead body is she going to get this part and not me!’” she told The Times in 2021.
Face of Estée Lauder – (1995)
While she “was an actress, not really a model,” Liz became the face of cosmetic giant Estée Lauder, embracing her own idea that “style means owning your look, being comfortable … and just being authentic,” she said in an interview published on fashion brand Karen Millen‘s website.
Warner Bros. Pictures
Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery – (1997)
“I learned from the best playing opposite Mike Myers, whom I adored. But I used to get terrible giggling fits when we were shooting and had to play lots of scenes without actually looking Mike in the eye. I’m ashamed to say,” Liz told The Guardian in 2024.

Bedazzled– (2000)
For the remake of Bedazzled, she reportedly beat out the likes of Uma Thurman, Julianne Moore and Madonna. “At that time, I was like, I can’t believe you didn’t give it to them!” she told Vulture in 2022.
Paramount Pictures
Serving Sara – (2002)
On her late co-star Matthew Perry: “I have very fond memories of him. But to be honest, it was a nightmare working with him at that time… because of his addiction,” she told Yahoo Entertainment in 2022.
