Dolly Parton doesn’t plan on going anywhere anytime soon, but a source says the music legend is getting her final arrangements in order — just in case.
“She’s been updating and fine-tuning some of the details of her own funeral,” the source reveals to Examiner. “The last thing Dolly wants is for loved ones to be burdened with second-guessing what type of farewell celebration she wants, the songs that need to be played or which casket to choose.”
According to the source, the “Hello God” singer, 80, intends to be buried next to her beloved husband of 58 years, Carl Dean, at Woodlawn Memorial Park and Mausoleum in Nashville.
The ultra-private 82-year-old was laid to rest in March 2025.
“Knowing that’s her destiny actually brings Dolly a lot of peace and serenity, albeit in a somewhat macabre way,” shares the source. “While she’s not ready to die by any means, she’s also not afraid of death.”

As Examinerpreviously reported, the “Jolene” hitmaker first started figuring out the logistics of her funeral last year, when a series of health setbacks caused her Las Vegas residency to be postponed.
On Monday, May 4, Parton announced to fans that the concerts were being permanently canceled as she continues to recover from her immune system and digestive system getting “all out of whack.”
“It’s gonna take me a little while before I’m up to stage performance level because some of the meds and treatments make me a little bit ‘swimmy-headed,'” she explained on Instagram. “Hopefully, I’ll be up to snuff again soon.”
