Beatles Legend Ringo Starr Reveals Surprising Wish for His 85th Birthday

Ringo Starr is celebrating a milestone birthday in a very special way.

On Saturday, July 5, the former Beatles band member took to Facebook to share a video message asking fans to raise their hands in peace signs at noon — in their respective time zones — Monday, July 7, in honor of his 85th birthday. Starr set the video to the hit 1967 Beatles track “All You Need Is Love.”

“This is a little reminder that on my birthday on Monday 7.7.25, I ask that at noon your local time if you can give peace and love, that is my gift from you, thank you. And this is my gift to you – peace and love everybody. peace and love Ringo. 😎✌️🌟❤️🎶🍒🥦🌈☮️,” he captioned his video.

The legendary musician’s harmonious gesture has been a tradition on his special day since 2008, with fans gathering around the world to express “Peace and Love” together. Starr has marked the occasion himself everywhere from Beverly Hills to Hamburg, Germany.

The drummer also posted a snap of himself holding his hands in peace signs on Sunday, July 6, and revealed that even astronauts from the International Space Shuttle would be partaking in the celebration.

“It’s so great how this keeps growing — we are in 38 countries!!! And we can’t forget the guys in the spaceship!” Starr wrote in part. “I want to give thanks to the crew up in the ISS and the teams getting the message to the moon and back… Artemis, Intuitive Machines… meanwhile here on Earth, I am sending special thanks to all the Peace & Love Ambassadors for all they do in each of their countries.”

Last month, Starr spoke to the Associated Press about the annual event, explaining the origins.

“This came about by accident, as everybody knows by now, being interviewed in New York, and then the person said. ‘What would you like your fans to get you for your birthday?'” Starr recounted. “I said, ‘Get me? No, you know I think it would be great if they went peace and love at noon.’ It just came. It could have been anything, but this is what came, and this is what we’re still supporting.”

Fans seemingly made Starr’s birthday wishes come true again this year, as he shared multiple videos on Facebook from them gathering worldwide on Monday in countries such as Japan, Canada and Brazil.

Starr also received some birthday love from his former bandmate Paul McCartney, 83, who posted a throwback snap of them on his Instagram.

“A very happy birthday to my dear friend, Ringo (or should I say, Sir Richard). I hope you have a wonderful day full of love. – Paul,” McCartney captioned his post.
