Alec Baldwin’s ‘Special Connection’ With Former Costar Meg Ryan Has Wife Hilaria Feeling ‘Left Out’

More than 20 years have passed since Alec Baldwin and Meg Ryan costarred in 1992’s Prelude to a Kiss, but a source says the pair remain very close.

“Alec has treasured her loyalty and wisdom ever since they worked together,” the source tells Examiner. “There’s decades of real chemistry and history there.”

According to the source, the famous duo’s “special connection” often leaves no room for his wife of 14 years, Hilaria Baldwin.

“It’s just a way different dynamic than what Alec has with Hilaria,” explains the source. “She is from a different generation than him, isn’t an actor and has never been through an extremely difficult, high-profile divorce. Meg can relate to all of those things.”

What’s more, both of their headline-making splits occurred the exact same year: In 2000, Baldwin, 68, dramatically called it quits with Kim Basinger, while seemingly-still-single Ryan, 64, separated from Dennis Quaid amid rumors of an affair.

“Alec also tremendously respects how Meg can step back from the spotlight for long stretches and simply enjoy a normal life in New York,” adds the source. “He’s never had the discipline to quiet down his life the way Meg has.”

Neighbors in Manhattan, the former daytime soap stars each maintained second homes in New York’s Hamptons enclave until recently — with the When Harry Met Sally sweetheart listing her Bridgehampton mansion for $15.25 million in late May, per the New York Post.

The surprising real estate move came mere months after the 30 Rock alum and his spouse, 42, hoisted their Amagansett place back on the market.

Any housing changes aren’t likely to affect Baldwin’s tight-knit bond with Ryan, says the source.

“There’s no getting around the fact that Hilaria feels a little bit left out,” adds the source. “It’s just something she has to live with because Alec’s loyalty to Meg is unwavering.”
