“This is not an alliance that anyone in the royal family wants to be dealing with,” the source admits, adding that Meghan, 45, and Fergie, 66, are believed to have spent time together in Portugal before Princess Eugenie gave birth to her daughter, Adelaide, in Lisbon in August.
Plus, “the fact that Sarah suddenly rented a place and came back the same week that [Prince Harry] and Meghan did seems far too convenient to simply be a coincidence,” notes the source, “so the royals are taking this very seriously.”
According to The Sun, the former Duchess of York is leasing a six-bedroom residence in the U.K.’s Home Counties while Meghan and Harry, 41, are rumored to have gone house-hunting in the Cotswolds ahead of their shocking return to England, per Page Six.

Like Meghan, Fergie has a complicated history with the monarchy.
Back in May, Examiner reported that Andrew Mountbatten Windsor‘s ex-wife has been totally frozen out by King Charles III and the rest of the royal family over her ties to Jeffrey Epstein, though she denies any wrongdoing and consistently maintains her innocence, previously stating via a representative that she was “taken in” by Epstein’s “lies.”
“It’s no secret Sarah’s very angry and angling for some sort of payout from the king, so it’s hard to imagine she won’t be egging Meghan on and urging her to stand up for herself too,” says the source. “Sarah has plenty of inside information about everyone in the family, so the fear is that she’s going to spill all to Meghan’s who will then have even more leverage.”
After all, “there’s really nothing to stop Sarah laying it all bare for Meghan now that she’s essentially been exiled, so it’s a total nightmare that these two are coming together,” the source adds. “It’s being seen as a real threat by everyone within the palace.”
