Queen Camilla has no intention of retreating from royal life once Prince William and Princess Kate take over the throne from King Charles III and has already begun working to strengthen her standing with the heir apparent, 43.
“Once Charles is gone, all the power will shift to William and Kate and Camilla is far from their favorite person,” reveals a source.
As Examinerpreviously reported, Camilla, 78, and Kate, 44, have never gotten along — and there have been whispers that the “openly combative” Queen Consort ought to be a lot kinder to her successor.
“Seeing how brutal William has been with the Yorks was a big wake-up call for Camilla,” the source admits. “It seems to have finally dawned on her that she better try and turn things around while she still has a chance.”

The opportunity may have already passed, though.
“A lot of people in William’s world will tell you that she’s wasting her time, that it’s far too late for Camilla to charm him, not after the way she treated Kate,” says the source. “But Camilla seems oblivious to how he feels about her, or she’s trying to play like she is because she’s suddenly almost saccharine with him.”
There’s certainly a lot to be gained, or rather retained, by securing William’s favor.
“It’s obvious [Camilla’s] desperate to secure her future and hold onto as many of the perks she currently enjoys as queen, which are many,” notes the source. “She’s received a lot from Charles over the years, she wants to hang on to that and get some sort of assurance she will still have her place in royal life.”
