Princess Kate got creative when cancer treatment got tough.
The Princess of Wales, 44, opened up about her journey during a recent visit to The Christie NHS Foundation Trust in Manchester last month.
As seen in a video shared Tuesday, July 21, on X, the mother of three explained, “I don’t know about you, but I didn’t have the ability to read or really focus on anything [during treatment].”
“[Coloring] was my way of exploring interesting things and being able to do something that did not require an end product, or an end finished piece,” she explained. “[It was] just a way of playing and losing yourself.”
According to the Mayo Clinic, the term “chemo brain” is used to describe people who have trouble with thinking and memory during and after treatment.
However, according to Mayo Clinic, “experts don’t fully know the causes of these concentration and memory changes.”
Kate announced in January 2025 that her cancer is in remission, thanking The Royal Marsden “for looking after me so well during the past year” as well as “those who have quietly walked alongside William and me as we have navigated everything.”
“We couldn’t have asked for more,” she said. “The care and advice we have received throughout my time as a patient has been exceptional.”
“It is a relief to now be in remission and I remain focussed on recovery,” she added at the time. “As anyone who has experienced a cancer diagnosis will know, it takes time to adjust to a new normal. I am however looking forward to a fulfilling year ahead. There is much to look forward to. Thank you to everyone for your continued support.”
