Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor is begging Sarah “Fergie” Ferguson not to betray him in order to save herself, a source reveals to Examiner, as the former couple find themselves engulfed in scandal due to their connection to the late Jeffrey Epstein.
“Andrew is terrified Sarah will try to salvage her own reputation by throwing him under the bus,” says the source. “He knows publishers want her side of things and the more dirt she spills on him, the bigger the payday will be.”
The former Duchess of York, 66, had to give up her royal title when her ex-husband, 65, was stripped of his status over his ties to Epstein, 66. (Mountbatten-Windsor vehemently denies any wrongdoing.) She was also drawn into the controversy when a 2011 email she penned to the convicted sex offender surfaced, in which she calls him a “steadfast, generous and supreme friend” to her and her family.
A spokesperson for Fergie said in a statement to People: “The Duchess spoke of her regret about her association with Epstein many years ago, and as they have always been her first thoughts are with his victims. Like many people, she was taken in by his lies. As soon as she was aware of the extent of the allegations against him, she not only cut off contact but condemned him publicly, to the extent that he then threatened to sue her for defamation for associating him with paedophilia. She does not resile from anything she said then. This email was sent in the context of advice the Duchess was given to try to assuage Epstein and his threats.”

A tell-all would seemingly solve two problems for Fergie.
As Examiner has previously reported, the author wants to write a memoir because she’s “worried sick about money” and “desperate to correct what she says are a ton of falsehoods.”
However, “Andrew is trying to make Sarah see that if they go that route, they will just destroy each other,” says the source. “He wants them to come together and weather this as a team.”
Maybe even rebuild what they once had, adds the source, hinting at a possible romantic reconciliation between the exes, who were married for 10 years before divorcing in 1996 and share daughters Princess Beatrice, 37, and Princess Eugenie, 35.
“Andrew says being together again might be the only way they both get through this mess,” the source explains. “He still finds Sarah attractive and let’s face it, he’s not going to have a lot of other prospects. He’s a social pariah in London now.”
