Katz’s Delicatessen Honors ‘When Harry Met Sally’ Director Rob Reiner With Emotional Tribute

One of New York City’s most iconic eateries is remembering Rob Reiner following the filmmaker’s tragic death.

Reiner, 78, and his wife, Michele Singer Reiner, 70, were found dead in their Los Angeles home on December 14. According to authorities, their son, Nick, 32, has been arrested in connection with the deaths and is being held without bail as the investigation continues.

On Monday, December 15, Katz’s Delicatessen — the legendary Lower East Side deli immortalized in When Harry Met Sally — paid tribute to Reiner on Instagram, honoring the director who helped turn the establishment into a pop-culture landmark.

In the post, Katz’s shared photos of Reiner inside the restaurant, along with an image of its famous sign reading, “Where Harry Met Sally… Hope You Have What She Had! Enjoy.”

“Remembering the great Rob Reiner on this tragic day. Rob Reiner was a quintessential New Yorker and creative giant who brought Katz’s to millions of people by showing the magic of our store in his masterpiece ‘When Harry Met Sally’,” read the post.

“Our hearts go out to his family,” the post added. “Sending infinite love.”

The beloved romantic comedy famously features Meg Ryan’s Sally faking an orgasm at Katz’s, prompting the now-legendary punchline delivered by Reiner’s mother, Estelle Reiner.
