George Clooney is doubling down on a claim that continues to surprise fans: he and his wife, Amal Clooney, have never had an argument during their 11 years of marriage.
In a sitdown with the Los Angeles Times dated Thursday, January 8, the Jay Kelly star, 64, credited timing and maturity for the harmony in their marriage.
Clooney explained that he was 52 when he tied the knot with Amal, now 47, in 2014, after previously believing he’d never remarry or have children. “Everything changed,” he said, noting that becoming a husband and father shifted his priorities.

The Oscar winner added that he’s far less interested in “winning” disagreements than he was when he was younger. “I’m much more secure,” Clooney said.
He also pointed to a serious 2019 motorcycle accident as an example of choosing agreement over argument. After the crash, Amal urged him to stop riding — and he listened.
And, as it turns out, his lawyer wife has let George win, too. “My wife used to smoke,” he said, “and I said, ‘I think it’s time you quit.’ And I’m sure there isn’t a day that goes by where she doesn’t miss smoking a cigarette. But I’m really glad she stopped.”
