Queen Camilla, 79, was recently spotted aboard a superyacht in Greece with her kids and grandkids in August (according to The Mirror), while her husband, 77, stayed home alone, Rob Shuter pointed out in his Naughty But Nice Substack on Tuesday, August 11 — presenting the perfect opportunity for Harry, 41, to pick up the phone.
“Harry knows exactly when his father is most vulnerable,” a palace source told Shuter. “Camilla being away removes one of the strongest voices telling Charles to think carefully before responding.”
But without his stepmother listening in, the prince believes he can make more progress mending their fractured relationship, Shuter reported.
“Harry understands his father emotionally,” the source told the outlet. “He knows Charles misses him, and he knows that underneath all the anger, the King wants his son back.”
Just one productive conversation would be considered a major setback for palace staffers, who have worked hard to keep Charles from softening toward Harry and Meghan amid multiple embarrassing tell-alls following the Sussexes’ move to the U.S. in 2020, Shuter reported.
“Charles can be incredibly firm as King, but Harry knows how to reach Charles as a father,” the source told Shuter. “That is the vulnerability.”
