President Donald Trump ‘Happy’ Over Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s U.K. Return: ‘I Was Not a Fan’

President Donald Trump isn’t bothered about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle‘s return to the U.K.

Trump, 80, was asked about the pair’s surprise exit from the U.S. while in the Oval Office on Wednesday, September 2, and he said he’s “happy about it.”

“I was not a fan,” he added, per the Daily Mail, of the controversial couple, noting that he does, however, have a “very good relationship with the Queen [Camilla] and with [King] Charles.”

“I thought they treated the royal family with great disrespect. I didn’t like it,” Trump added of Harry, 41, and Meghan, 45. “I didn’t like the way she acted.”

The commander-in-chief also took issue with the couple’s decision to step back from their royal duties in 2020 and called the Suits alum “terribly disrespectful” to the late Queen Elizabeth II. He also said that if he were King Charles III, he would’ve thought twice before welcoming the pair back to England.

“I don’t know, maybe I’m different. I wouldn’t have taken them back,” Trump quipped. “If I were the royal family, I would not have taken them back.”

Trump’s comments come just days after Harry, Meghan and their two children, son Prince Archie, 7, and daughter, Princess Lilibet, 5, were said to be settling down in the Cotswolds area after arriving back in England on August 26 following a family visit to the country back in July — their first time as a foursome since 2022.

The Sussexes, who are said to be staying in the U.K. for an “extended period,” per People, have already enrolled their children in school and are reportedly keeping their Montecito, California, home amid their return. The pair will also be holding on to their vacation home in Portugal, the outlet reports.

As for the decision to move, according to People, the current direction of the Trump-led U.S. government played a big part, with the outlet reporting that the couple “have made no secret of their disillusionment with the current White House,” and with the midterm elections fast approaching, it seemed like an apt opportunity to give life in the U.K. a second try.
