For years, Jackie Kennedy hid her pain — and cut off anyone in her life who tried to expose it, including her own half-brother, Jamie Auchincloss, who had made the grave error of talking to author Kitty Kelley for her 1978 book, Jackie Oh!
On May 19, 1994, as Jackie lay dying following a five-month battle with non-Hodgkin lymphoma, she was surrounded at her apartment on Fifth Avenue in New York City by friends and family, including her children, Caroline and John Jr., sister Lee and sisters-in-law Eunice and Ethel, who said their goodbyes as Gregorian chants played in the background.
