Bruce Willis’ wife, Emma Heming Willis, has shown incredible devotion taking care of her husband as he battles frontotemporal dementia and an insider tells Examiner that loved ones are working overtime to ensure that she also gets plenty of support.
“Emma has been an absolute saint through all of this. Not only has she devoted herself to taking care of Bruce, she’s been a complete rock for everyone else too,” the insider says. “Their daughters are still so young, and from the start Emma has made it her mission to stay upbeat and sunny for them so that Bruce’s illness doesn’t totally take over their childhood.”
The insider explains that the Die Hard star — who shares daughters Mabel, 13, and Evelyn, 11, with Emma — “would never want that.” However, the mom of two, 49, also has Bruce’s three older daughters – Rumer, 37, Scout, 34, and Tallulah, 31 – and his ex-wife, Demi Moore to consider.
“She’s done a beautiful job of making sure everyone is included and Bruce’s needs are always the top priority, but that’s not been easy,” the insider continues. “There’s a real worry that she’s doing too much and could collapse under the strain of it. Caregiver burnout is a very real thing.”
Fortunately, everyone is stepping up: Bruce’s daughters and friends are all focused on making sure Emma gets breaks and doesn’t carry the entire burden alone. The insider says there’s “no doubt that was a factor in the decision to move” the Hollywood icon.
Still, the decision was for the best. “It gives Emma a little breathing room,” the insider tells Examiner. “This is a chance for her and the girls to have a little bit of normalcy again, which Bruce would absolutely want for them and anyone that knows him agrees.”
“Emma is doing her best to keep everyone as happy as possible, so it’s awful that she’s being attacked like this,” adds the insider. “It is very, very hurtful to her and to the entire family.”
