Sophie, the Duchess of Edinburgh, Playing Peacemaker for Meghan Markle and Princess Kate

A secret weapon is being deployed to end the war between Princess Kate and Meghan Markle, says a source — and her name is Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh!

Married to Prince Edward, the 61-year-old has gotten a front row seat to the rift between the wives of Prince William and Prince Harry over the past few years.

“Sophie remembers the times when Kate and Meghan were actually very close,” the source tells Examiner. “Now she’s on a mission to make a truce happen.”

According to the source, the blonde royal just might be the perfect person to repair the bond the future queen, 44, and the Suits alum, also 44, once shared.

“She’s well-loved by everyone in the family — no one has a bad thing to say about Sophie,” reveals the source. “For that reason, Sophie’s word carries a lot of weight.”

Unlike some other monarchy members, she’s continued to retain a soft spot for the Sussexes, adds the source.

“Sophie has always been very fond of Harry,” notes the source. “When Sophie met Meghan, they got along beautifully too. She took a shine to her.”

Only time will tell if the duchess can get Kate to view Meghan in the same positive light.

“It’s a delicate situation so it has to be done in baby steps,” acknowledges the source. “Sophie’s currently testing the waters, but the hope is that she can make some headway by arranging a meet-up between Kate and Meghan.”
