Dolly Parton may soon receive an honor that’s plane sweet — people in Tennessee are campaigning to have the Nashville International Airport renamed for her.

An online petition is aimed at having it redesignated as Dolly Parton International Airport in recognition of the country music legend’s immense contributions as an artist whose music promotes love and acceptance, as well as her charitable contributions.

Part of the petition reads: “We request that the airport’s name be changed to Dolly Parton International Airport to honor an icon who has given so much to our state and to the world. We could all be Departin’ from Parton!”

The rebranding would be the second time the airport has had a name change. The airport code is BNA, for its original name, “Berry Field Nashville.” It was named for World War I veteran Col. Harry S. Berry in 1937, and was changed in 1988.

“I think that’s probably more of a joke than anything,” Dolly insists.

“I mean, it does sound like a lot of fun to say: ‘Your flight is departin’ from Nashville’s D. Parton.’ But I couldn’t imagine having my name attached to the airport as an actual thing.” Your loyal fans can, though.
