Will Smith Honored with His Own Street in Hometown Philadelphia
The city of Philadelphia recognized a hometown hero by naming a street after him.
Superstar Will Smith was honored at a ceremony with city leaders presenting him with his own street sign: Will Smith Way.
And he couldn’t be prouder.
“This is the honor of a lifetime,” says the 56-year-old actor, who shot to fame in the sitcom “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” and then went on to become an A-list movie icon. “Philly — I am yours!”
During the dedication, Smith stood with Philadelphia Mayor Cherelle Parker — who called Smith’s success an inspirational story — and other government officials as the new sign was unveiled. Will’s mom, Caroline Bright, was also there, celebrating her son’s success.
The actor has also stayed close to folks in Philly, supporting local educational initiatives, youth mentoring programs and various charities. Well done, Will!
