FILM star Matthew McConaughey has joined the growing number of celebs who’ve packed up their families and left Tinseltown to settle in other states.

For the “Dallas Buyers Club” actor, the choice was obvious — he went home!

Texas, he says, “has always been home. I mean, there’s multiple reasons for that. I mean, this is where I have a great relationship with time — meaning 60 seconds feels like a minute, a mile feels like a mile.”

McConaughey — who is father to three children with wife Camila Alves, 41 — Levi, 16, Vida, 14, and 11-year-old Livingston — adds that his mom, Mary, 92, a n d his brothers live in Texas, where he was born in 1969. He attended the University of Texas at Austin.

“Our family unit is here — we have resources and a backbone of security here,” he adds. McConaughey says he had always intended to head back home as he grew his family with Alves, a Brazilian model.

‘I wanted them to have what I grew up around,”” he explains. “There’s a solid … amount of common sense that runs through it, it’s untalked about, but we understand it here.”

He says Austin is a “”very creative city in a state that is very structured,” and where people are accepted for who that are. “”The rule in Austin is ‘Be You’ — that’s always been the rule in this city — and we should make sure that that remains the rule — just ‘Be You'”
