Naomi Watts plays a wannabe actress who tries to help an amnesiac (Laura Harring) uncover her true identity in Mulholland Drive, a surreal 2001 neo-noir mystery from director David Lynch — who refused to explain what the head-spinning movie is really about! Although critics and audiences gave the strange creation high marks, it’s still a head-scratcher.

Lynch meant it to be the pilot for a series after his success with Twin Peaks. But TV execs turned up their noses because they didn’t understand the ending. Lynch came up with a new one, but the pilot-turned-film still confused everyone!
