Tom Selleck’s devoted wife, Jillie Mack, is thrilled to have him home after his long stint on the CBS cop drama “Blue Bloods” — but he’s already looking for a new role … based on one of his old characters!

“He’s slowed way down since the show ended, which has been a big adjustment for him and a little tough, but thankfully he has Jillie to help keep his spirits up,” confides an insider. “She’s thrilled to have him home more, and he’s certainly grateful to have more time to go on long walks with her and cuddle up on the couch.”

At age 80, Tom has made it perfectly clear that his “career isn’t over” following his 14-year run on “Blue Bloods.” And while he also had a long run as “Magnum, P.I.,” the role he is most looking to reprise is that of detective Jesse Stone.

Tom played the character based on a series of novels penned by Robert B. Parker in nine TV movies, the last in 2015 — and he considers Stone to be the character he feels most connected to and is most like him.

In fact, he loves the role so much he vows that if he makes another Stone film it won’t be his last playing the part of the alcoholic cop. “It wouldn’t be a final one because everybody loves it,” Tom says. “Jesse is a great character, and it would be fascinating to find out where he is quite a few years later.”
