Clancy Brown was spotted in a rare sighting when he was out and about in Los Angeles over the weekend.

In photos shared by the Daily Mail on Tuesday, May 19, Brown, 67, went for a casual look. He wore a dark blue patterned button down that he paired with navy pants and a brown belt, adding a tan L.A. Dodgers hat and sunglasses to complete the ensemble.

Brown’s been married to Jeanne Johnson since 1993, and during an appearance on The Rich Eisen Show in 2025, he revealed that his wedding to Johnson almost caused him to not take on the role of Captain Hadley in The Shawshank Redemption the film based on Stephen King‘s 1982 novella Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption.

“I almost didn’t do it because I had my date and it was right in the middle of filming,” Brown told host Rich Eisen. “We had to negotiate around the date.”

Luckily, he was able to walk down the aisle — and it happened right after he filmed one of the most iconic scenes in the film.

In the scene, fellow Shawshank star Tim Robbins‘ character, Andy Dufresne, approaches Hadley and tells him how he’s legally allowed to skirt around paying taxes on a sizable inheritance left to him. Hadley doesn’t believe him at first and nearly tosses Andy off the rooftop before he’s convinced.

“So, I threatened to throw Tim off the roof and then hopped in a car with my sister and drove to Chicago and got married and came back,” he recalled.

Brown’s resume has become more than stacked over the years with roles in Starship Troopers, Cowboys & Aliens and more, but there’s no doubt that the younger crowd knows him as the longtime voice of Mr. Krabs on Spongebob Squarepants,

In a previous appearance on The Rich Eisen Show, Brown explained that he’s often asked to record clips for fans in the voice of Mr. Krabs.

“All the time I get that,” he said in the money-obsessed crab’s voice.

Brown added with a laugh, “All the time, for their kids, and I tell their kids to send me all their money, and one time it happened and then I stopped doing it.”
