Princess Diana Hoped to Teach Sons William and Harry ‘the Importance of Communication,’ Letter Reveals
From beyond the grave, Princess Diana is urging her sons to make peace. Two years before she died at 36 in a car crash in Paris, the mom to Prince William and Prince Harry penned a letter in which she shared her wishes for her sons, then 13 and 11, respectively. Writing to a supporter shortly after her bombshell November 1995 BBC Panorama interview — in which the royal famously said “there were three of us” in her marriage to now King Charles III — Diana expressed hope for the future and “sharing with and teaching William and Harry the importance of communication on a deeper level,” according to Reeman Dansie auctioneers in Colchester, England. (The handwritten, two-page note is set to go up for auction and is estimated to fetch more than $5,000.)
Sadly, William, 43, and Harry, 41, are not communicating at all these days, with Harry’s move to the U.S. with wife Meghan Markle and their own subsequent bombshell 2021 interview furthering their estrangement. Though Harry, in his memoir, revealed that the troubles could be traced back as far as childhood, as William was touted as the royal heir and Harry was educed to the “spare,” or “less-than” son.
