Patrick Dempsey Reveals Fans Get ‘Territorial’ About His Hair, Confirms the Gray Is Here to Stay

Patrick Dempsey is finally confirming what fans have wondered for years — his gray hair isn’t going anywhere.

The actor, who turned 60 earlier this month, opened up about his famously silver-flecked locks in a Thursday, January 29, interview with Parade, admitting that fans have grown surprisingly protective of his signature look.

“People get quite territorial when it comes to my hair,” Patrick told the outlet, explaining that even professional stylists notice the smallest changes.

He recalled a recent moment when his wife, makeup artist Jillian Dempsey, trimmed his hair at home — and the hairstylist on set immediately noticed.

“She could tell Jillian cut it,” he said, laughing. “It was pretty funny.”

Despite years of speculation, the Grey’s Anatomy alum made it clear he has no plans to dye his hair. “I actually like the gray,” Dempsey said, adding that his natural salt-and-pepper look feels authentic at this stage of his life.

Hair has always played a role in his love story with Jillian, whom he married in 1999 after meeting at her salon. Together, they share three children: daughter Talula Fyfe, 23, and twin sons Darby Galen and Sullivan Patrick, both 18.

Whether onlookers agree with her hairstyling or not, one thing’s for certain.
