Academy Award-winning star Meryl Streep is 75 years old — and never been happier!

After making film history with dramatic roles in movies such as “Sophie’s Choice,” “The Deer Hunter” and “The Bridges of Madison County,” the living legend is now selecting roles that are simply fun — like her recent stint on the quirky TV series “Only Murders in the Building.”

“I was a huge fan of the show,” Meryl reveals. “I also just wanted to have some fun because the world is pretty lousy right now.”

And she even found real-life romance with her character’s love interest, played by funnyman Martin Short, also 75.

“Meryl and Martin have known each other about a decade but they became very close when they started filming the show together,” a friend confides. “It slowly built into more than a friendship about a year ago.”

The timing was right for both of them. Meryl had been separated from her longtime husband and father of her four grown kids, sculptor Don Gummer, since 2017, while Martin tragically lost his wife of 30 years, Nancy, to ovarian cancer in 2010.

Meryl and Martin have been spotted together in public but aren’t willing to put a label on their budding relationship.

“She thinks it’s silly to call Martin her boyfriend, and besides, she doesn’t think it’s anyone’s business,” reveals the friend. “What they have is special. When they’re together there’s always interesting conversation and best of all, laughter. He cracks her up. It works for them.”

The “Kramer vs. Kramer” and “The Iron Lady” Oscar winner is also pleasantly surprised that her talents are still in demand.

“I remember as I was hovering around 40, I thought each movie would be my last, really,” Meryl says. “And all the evidence of other 40-year-old women at that time would lead you to believe it was over.”

Meryl appeared on the TV series “Big Little Lies” and the recent “SNL50: The Anniversary Special,” where she appeared in sketch comedy for the first time. She expects to reprise her role as demanding boss Miranda Priestly in the upcoming film “The Devil Wears Prada 2.”

But she has nothing to prove professionally.

“I know life is short and I’m a lucky woman,” says Meryl. “You find your own way. You have your own understanding of yourself, and that’s what you’re going to count on. In the end, it’s what feels right to you.”
