Madonna Seemingly Calls Out Ex Sean Penn in New Song Three Decades After Divorce

Madonna and Sean Penn have been divorced for more than three decades, but that didn’t stop the singer from seemingly targeting the One Battle After Another star in her new song.

The “Like a Virgin” artist, 67, doesn’t specifically mention Penn, 65, by name in the song, “Bizarre,” but she appears to hint at him in the lyrics when she mentions a “movie star” with “deep blue eyes.”

Madonna also sings about the movie star in question driving away in a Shelby Cobra, the same car she allegedly gifted the Fast Times at Ridgemont High actor with at their wedding in 1985. (Penn actually auctioned off a Shelby Mustang at the J/P Haitian Relief Organization gala in 2018, lending more credibility to the rumor.)

The League of Their Own actress and Penn first met on the set of her music video for “Material Girl” in February 1985. Six months later, they officially tied the knot but their relationship was tumultuous from the start.

In December 1987, Madonna filed for divorce.

“There was no one direct incident leading up to this,” her rep told People at the time. “It was a series of cumulative pressures. There were many moments in their marriage when it was shaky, and Madonna was finally forced to face the reality of the situation — that they weren’t happy together.”

However, less than two weeks later, the Evita star requested to withdraw her filing, according to a report from the Los Angeles Times, but in 1989, she filed for divorce once again – this time for good.
