Prince Harry is expected to discuss with King Charles III what role he could possibly play within the royal family following his and Meghan Markle‘s return to the U.K., a source tells Examiner.
Before stepping down as senior working royals in 2020, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex famously proposed a ‘half in, half out’ approach that would have them earning their own income but still supporting Queen Elizabeth II at select events.
She vetoed the plan, but Harry, 41, “feels his father can revisit that and perhaps see more clearly why it might actually be a positive thing for the institution as a whole,” reveals the source.
Charles, 77, is “willing to hear Harry out,” the source says. “There are no promises being made about what the king will or won’t agree to, but the fact that this is even on the table has left” Prince William “feeling massively betrayed.”

The 44-year-old heir apparent, however, is totally powerless, spills the source, and has been blocked out of all discussions and decision-making by order of the king.
“William has been pressing for more details, but His Majesty’s stance is that it’s simply none of his business at this point,” the source explains. “He feels William has been incredibly hot-headed and immature about the situation and wants to give Harry the chance to outline what he’s after.”
As Examiner previously reported, William attempted to issue Charles an ultimatum over Harry, which backfired in his face as the king will not be dictated to by anyone.
“The king can always say no, and he feels perfectly capable of making that decision without his eldest son’s interference,” the source says of Harry’s plans to pitch him on a return to royal life.
