The famous Home Alone house is reportedly getting a holiday-ready makeover that fans have long hoped for.
According to NBC5 Chicago, the iconic Winnetka, Illinois, home used as the McCallister family residence in the 1990 holiday classic is being restored to resemble the warm, colorful interior seen in the film.

Per the outlet, the property’s new owners commissioned the renovation after a previous owner stripped the home of its nostalgic charm, replacing it with a sleek, all-white modern design.
“Our vision is to bring back the warmth and just the love from the movie,” Scott Price, a project manager, told the outlet.
Per People, the massive home, built in 1926, spans more than 9,000 square feet and features five bedrooms and six bathrooms. It sold in January 2025 for more than $5.5 million after being listed the year prior.

Fans famously criticized the 2018 renovation, with some calling the interior “sterile” and “depressing” compared to the festive home immortalized on screen.
Macaulay Culkin, who starred as Kevin, previously joked about buying the house himself during a December 2024 interview with The New York Times, and turning it into a “movie fun house” for fans to relive scenes from the beloved film.
