After losing their home in the Palisades fires in early January, 57-year-old Melissa Rivers and her boyfriend, attorney Steven Mitchel, 63, decided to find happiness after tragedy and got married!

The March 15 wedding at the Four Seasons Resort in Wyoming had 150 guests.

“I was going to cancel,” reveals Melissa, but her friends had other ideas. “Many of them lost their homes too, and they stepped in and said, ‘We are doing this.’”

Now, Melissa — daughter of the late comedian Joan Rivers, who passed away in 2014 — says she’s glad she went through with the ceremony after all. “To be around everyone I love, it was really something I needed at a time in my life where I felt like everything had been taken away.”

The ceremony in Jackson Hole was an informal affair.

“Our goal was simple — throw a party and have a wedding break out somewhere in the middle,” says Melissa. “We nailed it.”

She and her hubby were treated to dozens of touching speeches, many of which honored her beloved mom, Joan, and dad, Edgar Rosenberg, who died in 1987. Her son, Cooper, 24, was right by her side, along with Steven’s sons, Patrick and Glen.

The lovebirds have been living in a friend’s rental property since the fire, but are now looking for a new home where they can start their married life.

“The fire brought us even closer,” says Melissa. “It’s very comforting to find out you do crisis well together…I am so grateful.”
