Christopher & Georgianne Walken – 55 years
It’s a great mix — actor and casting agent. “It’s a crazy business, and somehow we found each other and made it work,” says the Deer Hunter star. “We’ve been together a long time, and it just gets better every day.”
The Walkens first met in 1966 when they were both cast as dancers in a touring production of West Side Story. Christopher, 82, and Georgianne, 81, dated for three years before tying the knot in 1969.
“Every once in a while — certainly not often — I’ll be looking out the window, and I’ll think, I feel pretty good. My bills are paid, my wife is healthy, the weather’s nice,” says Christopher. “That’s really all I care about.”

Martin & Janet Sheen – 63 years
Martin, 84, and Janet, 80, have been married since 1961, and have welcomed four children, Charlie Sheen and Emilio Estevez, Ramon Estevez and Renée Estevez — who all followed in their father’s acting footsteps.
Martin suffered a heart attack at the age of 37 while filming 1979’s Apocalypse Now, a notoriously plagued production.
“There was a struggle to get me to a hospital because we were in a remote area of the jungle. My wife, Janet, was running down the corridor, and I was on a gurney being wheeled in, and I looked up and saw her face,” Martin recalls. “She leaned down and whispered, ‘It’s only a movie, babe. Please, it’s only a movie!’”
He adds, “It was very serious, and she handled it like a pro. She had me laughing in the most dire circumstances. She said, ‘Don’t take yourself so seriously.’”
The West Wing star adds, “Every day is a celebration with this dame.”

Ina & Jeffrey Garten – 56 years
The 77-year-old Food Network star and husband Jeffrey, 78, have been wed for 56 years after tying the knot in December 1968.
“I had a very lonely childhood, but everything changed when I met Jeffrey,” says the Barefoot Contessa of her Yale dean husband. “It’s really very simple. He’s the most important thing in my life and he makes me feel like I’m the most important thing in his. He might be in China or Kenya or New Haven at Yale, but I know no matter what’s going on, I’m the center of his life. And that’s incredibly grounding.”
“He’s funny and smart and adorable, so that helps too. And he unloads the dishwasher. He writes me love letters.”

Ron & Cheryl Howard – 54 years
As high school sweethearts, Ron recalls, “There was never anybody else. November 1, 1970, Cheryl and I went on our first date … we saw It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World and got pizza. Quite a start, right?”
“People say, ‘How’d you do it?’ There’s no technique. There’s no tactic other than communication is really important. You have to learn to communicate and have difficult conversations in constructive ways,” says the actor and director. “Beyond that, there’s an element of luck because people either grow together or they don’t — and I don’t think you can force that.”

“The slow drag of our lives pressed together, I led sometimes, sometimes she did. We finally found that rhythm where there was no lead, we moved as one. We’re glued together, hip to hip, and holding each other up not covering as much of the floor, but owning & loving the space that’s ours.”
Together, they share daughter Zoe, who was born in 1982.
