Ben Affleck‘s close relationships with exes Jennifer Garner and Jennifer Lopez means he’s often letting one down to spend time with the other, and the balancing act is causing him a lot of anguish, a source tells Examiner — especially with the holidays right around the corner.
“It’s a tricky situation now that he’s back on such great terms with J. Lo because he’s very afraid of upsetting her or making her feel like she’s second fiddle to Jennifer,” reveals the source. “That has always been one of her big complaints, so Ben goes out of his way to prove it’s not true.”
As Examiner previously reported, despite divorcing in 2015, Affleck and Garner, both 54, continue to spend time together with their three children, Violet, 20, Fin, 17, and Samuel, 14, even celebrating Thanksgiving as a family in 2025.
“His kids are going to be with their mom for the holidays, so the more logical thing is for him to go there,” notes the source. “But J. Lo wants him to spend at least some of the big day at her place, and she’s laying the guilt on thick.”
When Affleck wed the Hustlers star, 57, in 2022, his children gained two new stepsiblings — 18-year-old twins Max and Emme, whom Lopez shares with ex-husband Marc Anthony — and while the couple’s two-year marriage didn’t last, their kids are all “still really close,” People reported in September 2025.

One possible solution to Affleck’s problem? A blended family Christmas.
“Ben would actually love that and so would his kids, but J. Lo and Jennifer would not go for it,” Examiner‘s source reveals. “They are cordial, but it’s very surface level because they only have one thing in common,” and that’s the Armageddon star.
“He loves all the attention they give him and laps it up,” says the source. “But it does cause him a lot of stress trying to keep them both happy.”
