A behind-the-scenes tragedy at American Idol has plunged the show into mourning.

In an “exceptinally tragic” twist, police said, the suspect — 22-year-old Raymond Boodarian, who was arrested on July 15 — allegedly used the victims’ own gun to kill them.
He’s accused of scaling a fence and entering the couple’s home through an unlocked door. “When the homeowners returned back to their residence, a violent struggle ensued between them and the suspect, which resulted in the victims tragically losing their lives,” said Lt. Guy Golan.

Boodarian has since been charged with two counts of murder and a count of residential burglary, with the special circumstance allegation of multiple murders and murder during the commission of burglary, the district attorney’s office said.
At press time he had not yet entered a plea to the charges.
In a statement, a spokesperson for American Idol called Robin “a cornerstone of the Idol family. She was truly loved and respected by all who came in contact with her.”
