Parker Posey plays a snobby Southern matriarch in the third season of HBO’s hot series “The White Lotus,” but here are 10 things you probably don’t know about the 56-year-old actress.

1. Parker and her twin brother, Chris, were born in Baltimore to chef mom Lynda Patton and car dealer Chris Posey, but like her “White Lotus” character Victoria Ratliff, Parker grew up in the South — in Monroe, La., and She learned to play Laurel, Miss. Her the mandolin for twin is an attorney “A Mighty Wind” in Atlanta.

2. For the 2003 Christopher Guest movie “A Mighty Wind,” she learned to play the mandolin.

3. Parker says starring in the 1993 film “Dazed and Confused” with Matthew McConaughey and Ben Affleck gave her the “high school experience I didn’t get to have.”

4. Her first name is a tribute by her dad to 1950s model Suzy Parker, who starred in the 1957 film “Funny Face.”

5. Parker remains close friends with a former New York neighbor — “The Tonight Show” host Jimmy Fallon.

6. Dubbed the “Queen of the Indies,” Parker admits, “I’m the character actor in Hollywood movies, the girl who has to be annoying so the guy can go to the other girl.”

7. In a remake of “Lost in Space,” she is the devious Dr. Smith — a role played by Jonathan Harris in the original 1960s campy series.

8. Extremely protective of her off-screen privacy. Parker once dated singer-songwriter Ryan Adams and confides she had other “terrible boyfriends,” some of them in the arts. “Artists, a lot of them who are men, are very uncomfortable with their feminine side,” she says. “That’s why they make music. Do they have unhealthy relationships with women? Absolutely. And do they treat them badly? Yes. Guess what? Rock stars aren’t great boyfriends.”

9. Posey lives along in the Big Apple: “When I think about New York and New Yorkers, we have a relationship already to the city, and that really feeds me a lot. And I feel like I’m always, you know, in a relationship to it. That sounds so cheesy. I guess I’m just at a place now where I don’t mind being alone at all. I’m not the first woman living alone in New York, you know?”

10. Born Nov. 8, Parker is a Scorpio, a water sign… and it seems to haunt her! “Plumbing issues and the flooding of apartments and the bursting of pipes is a running theme in my life,” she laughs. “There’s a lot of water flowing.”
